Snazz Up Your Workout With Jazzercise
Jazzercise is a snazzy, jazzy way to get in a great workout while having fun. A Jazzercise class has been added to Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jazzercise is also offered on Saturday mornings at 10:30. The class is free to members and no dancing experience is necessary.
Start Thinking About Summer Swim Lessons
The summer swim lesson schedule is being finalized and will soon be available online and in the lobby of the Old Town Hot Springs. Watch for some changes this summer with scheduling and pricing. Red Cross swim lessons will be offered four times a week, as well as twice a week. All instructors at the Old Town Hot Springs are certified, and will be teaching the latest innovations and recommendations from the Red Cross. Prices will be changing with group and private lessons as well. The summer swim lesson schedule begins May 3. The Swim Team Prep Class begins March 16.
Sure To Give You Goosebumps
The Old Town Hot Springs has a new Winter Video for your viewing pleasure. It is on our website featuring future TV reporter, Libby Lukens, a local 10-year-old with broadcast journalism aspirations. First Aid And CPR Classes Offered
The Old Town Hot Springs will be offering the following American Red Cross Certification classes: CPR/AED and First Aid. The classes are every other Tuesday through the month of March. The CPR/AED (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator) classes are on the second Tuesday of every month. First Aid classes are on the fourth Tuesday of every month. This month’s dates are Feb. 9 and Feb. 23. These classes begin at 6:30 each night at a cost of $30 per class. The instructor is Alexis Wolf, the Youth Programs Coordinator with the City of Steamboat. She has been teaching American Red Cross classes since 2002. Please pre-register at the Front Desk.
Member of the Month
Craig Kennedy is frequently seen wheeling around Steamboat, and also around the Old Town Hot Springs. Craig is a member, and he earned his membership through a trade by vacuuming the pools and cleaning the fitness machines.
Kennedy is in a wheelchair, after a skiing accident at Steamboat when he was 23 years old. He still skis Steamboat in a sit-ski as often as he can. He stays strong by working out in the Fitness Center of the OTHS. He does a lot of sit ups to work on his core, “So that I can do everything I do a little bit better.” He also works on his biceps, triceps, and lats. The highlight of his workout is the soak afterwards. “That’s what gets me through the workout: the hot pools.”
Kennedy says he never used to hang out at the Old Town Hot Springs, before the remodel. But his company, Access Anything, was asked to look at a site plan review and make recommendations on access. “The Old Town Hot Springs went above and beyond to make people with disabilities feel welcome.”

Masters Swim And Why YOU Should Do It
The Old Town Hot Springs Masters Swim Program is available to guide you and help you reach your goals. Those goals could include losing weight and getting fit, improving swim skills, cross training, exercising for health and fitness, or training for a competition.
Practices are coached either from the water or from the deck. They include a variety of sets (distance and sprint) to improve strokes. Swimmers are encouraged to swim within their comfort range, and they are assigned to lanes accordingly. All levels are welcome. The distance ranges from 1800-3000 meters and includes all strokes. Triathletes are welcome to swim freestyle sets.
Masters swim sessions are Mondays, 5:15-6:00 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday, 12-12:45 p.m.
